Facelift. For a facelift it is critical to remove more than excess sagging skin. It is important to include the deeper layers, located under the skin and face muscles (known as the SMAS). This thin layer of fascia and muscles will be tightened in the direction of the two main skin vectors and fixed accordingly. This will provide a more streamlined yet naturally loose skin without tension. The result is a natural look with a long lasting effect.

The lower face lift, used especially in the neck, consists of the gathering of lower neck muscles (platysma). In the mid-lift (called mid-face) the middle part of the face around the zygomatic bone is tightened. In the MACS lift (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension) only small scars are left. The so-called forehead lift affects the forehead and eyebrows. Here are some minimally invasive techniques (endoscopy) or open methods with hidden scars possible.

Often, combining methods such as liposuction on the chin and neck, autologous fat injections and possible simultaneous Botulinumtoxin treatments can be advantageous. The 3-4 hour surgery is usually performed under general anaesthetic in the presence of a highly experienced anaesthetist. Possible complications include bleeding, bruising, abnormal scarring, and in very rare cases, a temporary asymmetry due to the stimulation of individual branches of the facial nerve. However, thanks to careful preparation and operation, these side effects are quite rare. You will receive medication to reduce the swelling and inflammation of the face after surgery.

Elevating the head and gentle cooling also have a positive effect on the healing process. The slight swelling of the face has usually gone down after a few days. Any inserted tubes will be removed, pain free, 1-2 days after surgery, and the stitches after 10-14 days. We recommend a stay in our patient care for 2 days after surgery. Here you can recover peacefully and have check-ups. Further follow up appointments are then carried out on an outpatient basis. After about 2-3 weeks, you can return to social events again. Because the incisions have to be placed in the tension lines of the skin, the resultant scarring is very inconspicuous.

For every operation:

Do not take blood thinning drugs such as aspirin, ASS, Plavix, Warfarin etc, 14 days before the elective surgery!
